Scientists from the University at Buffalo, Stony Brook University, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, University at Albany, and City University of New York - Advanced Science Research Center and industrial partners joined together at a workshop to address the materials needs for quantum information science and technology.

Participants shared information about research, experimental efforts and facilities at their own institutions. Speakers included Vasili Perebeinos and Quanxi Jia, University at Buffalo; Dmitri Kharzeev and Vladimir Korepin, Stony Brook University; Nathaniel Cady, SUNY Poly; Andrea Alu, CUNY; Xuedong Hu and Herbert Fotso, University at Albany; and Alexei Marchenkov, CEO of Bleximo.

As a result of the two-day brainstorming event, three classes of materials have been identified as important topics for future research: chiral materials, 2-D materials, and superconducting materials.

The workshop was held at the University at Buffalo on May 14-15, 2019. It was sponsored by UB’s Office of Research Advancement.
