An Engineering News-Record article about the innovative design of a new skyscraper to be built in earthquake-prone Seattle quotes Michel Bruneau, a professor in UB's Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering.

Bruneau said the composite structural-steel frame, instead of a steel frame around a reinforced concrete core, will be “pioneering in its use in further high-rise construction.”
