What I've Done

What types of work have you performed? What projects have you worked on?
I have had the opportunity to work in the application of Operations Research (Industrial and Systems Engineering) to several military problems for the United States Air Force. I get to do early prototype development and technology management for decision-support tools in cyberspace.

What have been some favorite aspects of your work?
I get to travel to some interesting locations for meetings with not only other developers on my team, but also to other Air Force bases to meet with potential users of the tools I develop.

What was one of your most satisfying days as an engineer?
I served as a mentor to a high school student in a local program here at AFRL. At the end of the summer I successfully recruited her to begin her engineering career at UB!

Was it worth it? What has your engineering background made possible for you? What value has it added to your overall life?
Every single thing was worth it.

Why it Matters

What would you say to the first-year students currently sitting in your shoes?
Engineering school is not always easy...but it is fun to look back and realize that the hard work paid off. Every year after college just gets better and better as you use the strong foundation that UB engineering provided you to continue to grow.
