Become a STEM Youth Mentor

Spring 2020 Opportunities

Lead students through hands on STEM activities under the guidance of a classroom leader and teachers.

SEAS students working with kids at Westminster.

What do mentors do?

Mentors will be assigned to either Westminster Community Charter School or Highgate Heights Elementary School, both of which are just a few minutes from UB South Campus. Monday visits are at Highgate Heights Elementary for kindergarten and 1st grade. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday visits take place at Westminster Community Charter School, grades K-5. Lesson plans and materials are prepared by staff ahead of time.

  • 4-5 mentors are needed per class
  • No experience is required
  • Training is provided
  • Transportation from North or South Campus is available

This opportunity is powered by National Grid and UB's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Lesson times do not include travel time to and from Westminster or Highgate. Be sure to take this into account when filling out your availability!
