BEAM: Buffalo-area Engineering Awareness for Minorities

BEAM is a great program to spark the interest of under-represented students in engineering.

BEAM is a non-profit organization dedicated to building diversity in STEM fields by encouraging, supporting and preparing underrepresented students of all ages to pursue a future in STEM.

The organization was founded in 1982 by a consortium of the UB School of Engineering, Linde-Union Carbide (now Praxair, Inc.), Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Buffalo Public Schools.

BEAM offers a variety of programs throughout the year that are designed to provide hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
