Auto-Admission Guide

On occassion, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences will  automatically admit select students to select master's programs based on merit and outstanding academic performance.

Auto-Admission is typically reserved for outstanding UB undergraduate students and others in senior standing who meet or exceed department admissions requirements. It is an expedited application process in which the GRE requirement, letters of recommendation, and application fees are waived.* Undergraduate major and GPA play a significant role in determining eligibility. If you are a UB student, you may be eligible for Auto-Admission to more than one SEAS program. However, you can only choose one.

Auto-Admission offers are by invite only, and the number of offers varies each year. You cannot request Auto-Admission. Students may receive more than one Auto-Admission offer if they meet or exceed the criteria of more than one SEAS master's program. Offers are not transferable and you can only accept one.

To go through this expedited process, students who receive an offer of Auto-Admission must apply using the link and code emailed to them.

How to Complete an Auto-Admission Application:

Step 1: Log in or Create an Account

Step 2: Start an Application

Step 3: Open Your Application

Step 4: Enter Your Code

Once you've opened your auto-admit application, enter the code provided in your email. This code is unique to each applicant and degree program.

Then, hit Continue and choose the program and semester you want to be considered for. Note that some programs do not accept students for the Spring semester.

Step 5: Complete Your Application

Fill out the required questions and sections. Once complete, you can Sign and Submit.

The only document you must upload is your unofficial transcript. No application fee is required. Once you Sign and Submit, we will verify your eligibility for the program and send you a confirmation of your admission.

*The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences only offers this expedited application process to select students who we believe meet or exceed our master's program admissions requirements. However, the school reserves the right to request additional materials and/or deny admission if requirements are not met. Students are officially admitted once they receive an official offer letter. International students must also meet UB's International Admissions Requirements.
