Shimiao (Cindy) Li obtained her PhD in ECE from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in 2024. She obtained a B.E. degree from Tianjin University, China in 2018.
Shimiao's research interests span across power systems, optimization and machine learning (ML). Her work focuses on a synergy of system modeling and ML tools to advance analytical tools for power system situational awareness and decision-making. Her past research at CMU has been part of the SUGAR toolbox which is a power grid analysis tool commercialized by Pearl Street Technologies, Inc. Her work has also been recognized by the best paper award in the 2021 PES general meeting, and selected in 2023 Microsoft Accelerate Foundation Models Research Initiative.
