The minor in Computer Science at UB offers students a solid foundation in the computer science field. Students successfully completing a minor in Computer Science will possess the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to identify and solve a variety of computational problems.

The Minor in Cybersecurity is jointly offered by the School of Management and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. It provides students with depth of knowledge in methods and technologies related to cybersecurity fundamentals and applications, and the opportunity to apply these methods and technologies first hand.

The minor in electrical engineering is a 24-credit program that gives students basic fundamental and applied knowledge in the electrical engineering discipline and allows students to convey an understanding of the continuously increasing contributions of electrical engineering to society.

People are increasingly required to control and interact with advanced new technologies in safety-critical domains such as health care, transportation and manufacturing. This minor provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the methods, processes and theories related to human factors and ergonomics engineering that can be applied to optimize human productivity, safety, security and comfort through design.

With the expansion of the manufacturing enterprise and advancements in technology, there is increased demand for workers skilled in the methods, processes and technologies related to the analysis and design of manufacturing systems.

Operations research is the increasingly growing discipline devoted to the use of analytical and quantitative methods to help inform decisions made in complex systems. This minor allows students to develop the required skills in analytical methods and optimization required to apply operations research in health care, military, transportation, energy and other systems.

As product and service delivery systems become more competitive in the global market, ensuring high quality is of utmost importance. Quality Engineering is a discipline devoted to ensuring that the quality of goods or services are maximized through systematic testing, evaluation, and statistical analysis.

The expansion of opportunities for automation in manufacturing, medicine, transportation, and other areas increased the potential career opportunities for students across engineering. This minor will complement a student’s current major by providing depth in the area of robotics and robotic applications.
