Education: BS in Music Industry, SUNY Fredonia; MS in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration, Canisius University
Academic path: My first professional job after completing my undergraduate studies was in customer service for a company that managed centralized admissions applications for colleges and universities across the country. This experience piqued my interest in higher education and showed me how much I enjoy helping students. I had the opportunity to assist students from very diverse backgrounds, which inspired me to pursue my master’s degree.
During graduate school, I worked as a graduate assistant in the admissions office, where I learned more about F-1 students and the process they go through to be admitted into U.S. universities. I also interned with the Tutoring & Academic Support Services (TASS) office at UB as a teaching assistant and academic coach for the course LAI 203: Academic Success Strategies. From this experience, I discovered two things: first, that I do not enjoy teaching, and second, that I wanted to become an academic advisor. TASS is a great resource at UB to support your success.
I began my career in SEAS as a graduate academic coordinator, where I further expanded my knowledge of F-1 policies and learned how to support master’s students throughout their journey at UB. I truly enjoy working in student-facing roles, especially in academic advising.
Specialty areas: SEAS Graduate Programs and Onboarding First-Year International Students
Hobbies and interests: I enjoy reading psychological thrillers and am a beginner at crochet, with the help of the Woobles crochet kits. I also have a rescue dog that I enjoy taking to the dog park and then curling up on the couch with to snuggle!
