Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (CURCA)

UB Fellowships and Scholarships

Freshman and sophomores should consider joining the SPARK Program, UB’s Fellowship and Scholarship Development Initiative, to find out how to develop competitive profiles to apply for awards.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based Master's and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions. Students planning on graduate school can apply as early as their senior year of undergraduate. For more information, please visit the NSF GRFP site.

The National GEM Consortium Fellowship Program

Students interested in graduate school should also look into applying to the GEM Fellowship, which is a national fellowship offered to students who have been accepted to GEM institutions for either an MS or PhD. This fellowship includes a stipend and summer internships. For more information, please visit the National GEM Consortium site.

New York State STEM Incentive Program

The New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) manages a variety of financial aid programs to help students pay for college including the STEM Incentive Program. This full SUNY scholarship is for top-ranked high school students pursuing high-demand, high-tech careers and committed to working in New York State after graduation. Details and applications are available online. UB’s State College Code for undergraduates applying for HESC scholarships is 1010.
