Students will travel to Florence, Italy, and take EAS 360: STEM Communications, taught by UB's Associate Professor of Practice Kris O'Donnell, at the Florence campus of the Istituto Lorenzo de' Medici (LdM). LdM serves as UB's host partner for this study abroad program. Founded in 1973 in Florence, LdM hosts over 3,000 students annually from all over the world and helps students to experience first-hand the inspiring culture of both historical and contemporary Italy.
The course will include walking tours that highlight the engineering and architectural wonders that define Florence. In addition, students will also take part in day trips to Pisa and Venice. We will also visit an award-winning organic olive oil farm in Tuscany to learn about the production process. While this course is required of engineering students, it may satisfy the CL2 requirement for other STEM majors (be sure to check with your advisor).
