How can you tell if a photo is AI generated? Here are some tips.

National Geographic quoted Siwei Lyu, SUNY Empire Innovation Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, for the best way to detect if a photo or video is gendered by artificial intelligence. 

Lyu said these AI programs have an “achilles’ heel,” in which they only know what they’ve been given and don’t know what details to pay attention to. This results in “artifacts,” or problems with the image that are obvious upon closer inspection. 

“If we suspect anything that's fishy, we don’t retweet immediately—so we stop the problem at the door instead of being part of the problem,” Lyu said.
