He's 102. He lives in Amherst. And he just won the 'Nobel Prize' of statistics

UB President Satish K. Tripathi and Venu Govindaraju, professors in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, were quoted in The Buffalo News about C.R. Rao, research professor in the UB School of Public Health and Health Professions who has been awarded the International Prize in Statistics.

Tripathi said Rao is “a legend,” while Govindaraju, who collaborated with Rao on a book on machine learning in 2013, said “it’s very rare to have such a genius and also be so humble and down to earth.”
