In an article about recent grant awards, Clinical Research News mentioned UB being awarded a five-year, $20 million grant by the National Science Foundation to establish the AI Institute for Exceptional Education, which will develop artificial intelligence systems to identify and assist young children with speech and language processing challenges. 

Venu Govindaraju, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and vice president for research and economic development at UB, is the grant’s principal investigator.
