FBI warns of the rise of 'deepfakes' in coming months and explains how to spot them easily

Business Insider reported on the FBI issued warning that says, “malicious actors almost certainly will leverage synthetic content,” such as deepfakes, “for cyber and foreign influence operations in the next 12-18 months.”

The article notes the FBI detailed how to spot deepfakes and that UB researchers, led by Siwei Lyu, SUNY Empire Innovation professor of computer science and engineering, have also developed a tool for spotting deepfakes and claim that it is 94% effective with lower success rates in non-portrait pictures.
