An article on PhysOrg reports on a new software tool being developed by a UB-led research team that aims to proactively catch hard-to-spot problems that can cause misleading big data results, and quotes Oliver Kennedy, assistant professor of computer science and engineering and principal investigator.

"We are creating a tool that'll let you work with the data you have, and also unobtrusively make helpful observations like 'Hmm... have you noticed that two out of a million records make a 10 percent difference in this average?'" he said.
