UB students are heading to NASA Langley to show off plans for a heat shield meant to protect spacecraft entering Mars.
The winning team will be offered paid summer internships at NASA and, potentially, the chance to flight test their concept.
Three UB undergraduate students took first place for a robotics startup that makes and sells self-piloting technology and automation tools to ship operators.
Students will use the popular Mindcraft video game to create their own version of a virtual UB campus at this year’s Minecraft build-a-thon.
The contest and other family-friendly events are part of a statewide student engineering conference at UB.
A conference for SEAS graduate students last week brought reprresentatives of NASA, Moog, Praxair and other companies to Davis Hall.
