Over the past two years, five faculty members from UB’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences have received awards from the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) Region 1 chapter.
Presentacion Rivera Reyes, an assistant teaching professor in the newly established Department of Engineering Education, received the Theodore E. Batchman Best Paper Award at the 2018 Frontiers in Education Conference.
Junsong Yuan, an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been named a Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). The award recognizes his contribution to “human action and gesture analysis” in the field.
Hui Meng,a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University at Buffalo, has been named a Fellow of ASME. The designation recognizes her outstanding achievements in mechanical engineering.
Five faculty from SEAS were among the eighteen UB researchers and teachers that have been named recipients of the university’s 2018 Exceptional Scholar and Teaching Innovation awards.
Edward P. Furlani, UB engineering professor and fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, whose pioneering work in microfluidics, inkjet systems, optoelectronics and other fields is recognized worldwide, died suddenly July 3. He was 65.
