Faculty and students from UB’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering received four awards at the 2018 INFORMS Annual Meeting and Analytics Conference.
Rajan Batta, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and SEAS associate dean for faculty affairs, human resources and diversity, recently won the 2018 Koopman Prize from the Military Applications Society of INFORMS.
UB researcher Nirupam Aich is working with colleagues in Bangladesh to investigate e-waste and its effect on people’s health. His goal is to one day find a solution to the problem in Bangladesh and other developing countries.
Michel Bruneau has been named a SUNY Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty rank in the SUNY system. He was among 14 SUNY faculty members appointed to the distinguished professor ranks by the SUNY Board of Trustees at its meeting on Nov. 15.
Masonobu Shinozuka, 87, died in California on November 5, 2018. Shinozuka served as director of UB's National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research in the 1990s, and was one of its original founders.
