Student Clubs and Organizations

Our Engineering Clubs are focused on the many different facets of the engineering and applied sciences fields and allow students to gain hands-on experience of the material they learn in the classroom.

In addition to networking with professors and professionals, engineering clubs actively carry out research projects, conduct valuable experiments and compete in competitions throughout the nation. Many of clubs are nationally recognized and work closely with national societies.

Most notably, the engineering clubs participate in the National Engineers Week in February of each year, where each club competes in events such as a paper bridge competition, rocket launches, Battle Bots and more.

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Student Chapter at the University at Buffalo (RAS@UB) is open to all UB undergraduates and graduates to join and learn ongoing developments in the field of robotics.

IE-GSA is an active organization supporting social, quality of life, and professional events for IE graduate students. Recent activities have included a local white-water rafting trip; a soccer tournament with students and faculty; LaserTag, and Sky Zone; and monthly lunch meetings.

The UB INFORMS group sponsors a range of professional, research and social activities including hands-on software workshops (Quantum GIS; LaTex); participation in the DOW Big Data Challenge; and attendance at the national INFORMS conference.
