The Cool Down quotes Kang Sun in an article on how people across multiple states have begun to notice a strange and worrisome scent in the air. Sun explains the scent is produced when biomass—trees, branches and leaves—burn in wildfires, emitting gases called volatile organic compounds that resemble a plastic smell. Yahoo! News carried the story.
