Michel Bruneau has been named a SUNY Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty rank in the SUNY system. He was among 14 SUNY faculty members appointed to the distinguished professor ranks by the SUNY Board of Trustees at its meeting on Nov. 15.
One September night, senior aerospace and mechanical engineering student Jessica Evans unsuspectingly picked up the phone. On the other end Evans heard the unexpected yet familiar voice of Jacquie Walker, local Channel 4 news anchor and namesake of a prestigious scholarship from the Buffalo chapter of the American Association of University Women.

Masonobu Shinozuka, 87, died in California on November 5, 2018. Shinozuka served as director of UB's National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research in the 1990s, and was one of its original founders.
