Engineering Management program rises to top 10

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences’ engineering management program is ranked No. 9 among 109 programs, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs rankings.

The online program—ranked No.19 last year and No. 29 in 2023—has continued to rise significantly in the annual rankings, which showcases the exceptional value of the program’s educational offerings.

Lewis, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Led by Cecilia Martínez León, associate professor of teaching in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, the program is designed for engineers who want to take leadership roles in their organizations and industries. It has climbed steadily in the rankings since its first year of eligibility in 2022.

The Engineering Management program is flexible, allowing students to complete full or part-time course loads, as well as tailor electives and projects to align with their interests.

Graduates accelerate their careers and gain qualifications for a diverse range of jobs, from engineering project manager and costs systems analyst to chief technology officer.

U.S. News considers five categories to rank the master’s in engineering programs: engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer assessment, services and technologies, and student excellence.

The University at Buffalo School of Nursing’s RN to BS degree was ranked No. 1 nationwide for the second year in a row in U.S. News’ 2025 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs rankings.
