UAS Vision (short for Unmanned Aircraft Systems) reports on UB’s new 24,000-square-foot outdoor drone testing facility, believed to be the third largest in the nation.

Technology.org reported that a team of UB researchers led by Paschalis Alexandridis, UB Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, are developing a novel set of tools that aim to reduce plastic waste and decrease the production of plastic.

The Buffalo News reports that UB spinoff Aviate Audio, formed by two electrical engineering alumni, was among six companies statewide to win $50,000 in the FuzeHub business contest.

WKBW and WGRZ reported that UB has constructed a 24,000 square-foot research complex to test drones. The facility, called Structure for Outdoor Autonomy Research (SOAR) is located on the North Campus.

The Buffalo News reports that Garwood Medical Devices, a startup company that licenses technology developing in the lab of biomedical engineer Mark Ehrensberger, is ready to begin swine studies for BioPrax, a minimally-invasive device that uses low-voltage electricity to treat infections and kill bacteria on the surface of joint replacements.
