Gold tab attached to skin converts mechanical energy into power for self-powered electronics

An article on AZoNano reports on UB research that suggests electronic devices could be powered by a small metallic tab that would generate electricity through bending a finger or other simple movements, and quotes Qiaoqiang Gan, associate professor of electrical engineering.

“No one likes being tethered to a power outlet or lugging around a portable charger,” he said. “The human body is an abundant source of energy. We thought: ‘Why not harness it to produce our own power.’”
