Seven people and one organization were honored for their service and support of BEAM, the Buffalo-area Engineering Awareness for Minorities (BEAM) program, at its annual awards breakfast.
Seventy-two teenagers from Western New York participated in this year’s BEAM summer programs, where they took part in hands-on engineering projects and classes to build skill levels in STEM.
The youngsters are enthusiastically building model bridges. The executive from the National Grid is cheering them on, helping them craft these small but meaningful examples of the types of structures engineers design.
