Briana Tom.

Briana Tom is a sales engineer with Harper International. Tom works mainly in the battery, ceramics and carbon fiber space to provide unique high-temperature thermal processing solutions to her clients. She works with startups and well-established companies throughout North America, Europe, and Asia to help drive innovation. Her projects have included new chemistries for the anode and cathode side of the battery and alternative precursors for carbon fiber. She was named one of Buffalo Business First’s 30 Under 30 in 2024.

Prior to joining Harper International, Tom was a quality engineer with Sumitomo Rubber, helping drive overall business center uniformity and bringing new products online. 

Tom is a graduate of the University of Buffalo. She earned a BS in Chemical Engineering and a MBA with concentrations in consulting and supply chain management in 2017. She is active in a number of professional organizations, including the American Ceramic Society's Young Professional Network and Metal Powders Industries Federation. Tom has also written articles for the American Ceramic Society. 

She holds board positions with UB’s Alumni Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters Young Ambassadors Board and UB’s Engineering Alumni Association, serving as vice president. In 2025, Tom helped establish the WiSE Excellence Fund. She is also involved with WNY Women’s Foundation.

She has been a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council since 2025.
