Kim Helmer is the Director of Engineering at AVOX Systems, a division of Safran Aerospace with an AS in Engineering, BS in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biology, ME from the School of Chemical Engineering, and an Executive MBA. Kim started off as a drug store supervisor while working her way through college. Kim worked on contract at M/A-COM, a division of Tyco Electronics evaluating multilayered ceramics used in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells as an inspector. She was then hired to be the R&T Process Engineer for the development of the manufacturing process for fuel cell components. With the closure of M/A-COM, the development team started their own company to continue the contract and development. With that they created ENrG Inc. Kim's role was janitor, construction worker, proposal writer, IT and H&S manager, R&T, Facility Manager, and the list goes on for over 9 years. In 2012, looking for more experience and exposure to different technologies and practices, Kim joined AVOX systems as a process engineer. Over the years she took different roles in engineering and leadership to eventually be named Director of Engineering.
