Subbarao Vanka

Subbarao (Subba) Vanka is a seasoned semiconductor industry executive with a background in VLSI hardware research and development. He is currently President of NW Engineering Consultants, Inc. based in Portland, Ore.

From 2016 to 2019 he was a Senior Director of Business Development and Engineering Operations at Encore Semi, Inc. a San Diego based design engineering services company. From 1983 to 2015 he was with Intel Corporation, based in Hillsboro, Ore. in various technical and leadership roles related to research and development of complex VLSI products such as microprocessors, chipsets and network controllers. He retired from Intel in 2015 as a senior engineering director in Intel’s Server CPU development organization.

Subbarao has six patents in the area of computer system design. He has an MS in electrical engineering from the University at Buffalo in 1983 and a B.Tech. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India in 1981. He has been affiliated with the Electrical Engineering Department Advisory Board at UB for the last eight years.

Subbarao joined the Dean's Advisory Council in 2020.
