A heat-radiating material goes sideways to keep its cool

Nature reports a UB-led research team led by Qiaoqiang Gan has developed a prototype hybrid device that can not only cool buildings drastically without using electricity, but also capture solar energy to heat water.

Gan, professor of electrical engineering, said he hopes that the device will provide heating, cooling and, with modifications, power generation.
