The TWG focuses on supporting project bundling initiatives. Kaminski will play a role in the group’s development of a national reference guide, self-assessment/maturity matrix tool, database of resources, workshops, peer exchanges, a college lecture and national webinar series and technical support.

“Darrell’s practical application experience and knowledge on how to deliver capital projects provides unique insight,” D’Angelo says, “his academic experience will be invaluable in developing educational and training materials for students as well as current practitioners.”

Prior to joining the Department as an assistant professor of practice, Kaminski worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for over 30 years.

According to the FHWA website, the Every Day Counts Initiative is “a state-based model that identifies and rapidly deploys proven, yet underutilized innovations to shorten the project delivery process, enhance roadway safety, reduce traffic congestion and integrate automation.”

UB’s presence on the TWG will be a boost to the program, according to D’Angelo.

“Having UB involved as a member to the TWG will provide the University with a primary role in developing and implanting innovation and research products at the national level moving theory to practice,” D’Angelo says, “Improving our nation’s infrastructure and educating future leaders is a focus of CSEE. UB is recognized as a current national leader.
