The SEAS Pledge to Professionalism Ceremony encompasses two professional pledges for engineering and applied sciences seniors: the Order of the Engineer and the Pledge of the Computing Professional.
The Order of the Engineer is a fellowship of engineers that emphasizes pride and responsibility in the engineering profession. Senior engineering students take an “Obligation of the Engineer” oath together, and receive a ceremonial ring.
Modeled after the Order of the Engineer, senior computer science students take the "Pledge of the Computing Professional," which recognizes and promotes the ethical and moral behavior of graduates of computer-related degree programs. Students recite the oath together and receive a lapel pin.
