UB Faculty and Alumni Recognized by HFES

Ravi Ravi Goonetilleke, Sara Czaja, and Ann Bisantz.

UB Alumni Ravi Ravi Goonetilleke, and Sara Czaja as well as ISE Professor and Chair Ann Bisantz (also a UB Alum) received awards at the Annual Meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.  

Bisantz and Goonetilleke were inducted as Fellows of the society, and Czaja along with the CREATE research team she directs were awarded the Jack A. Kraft Innovator award, which honors significant efforts to extend or diversify the application of human factors principles and methods to new areas of endeavor. 

Goonetilleke is a Professor of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and specializes in ergonomic aspects of product development, including seminal work for Nike regarding the design of high performance athletic footwear based on psychophysical and ergonomic models.

Czaja is the Leonard M. Miller Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and the Scientific Director for the Center on Aging, at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Czaja directs CREATE, the Center for Research and Education on Aging and Technology Enhancement, a collaborative center distributed across the University of Miami, Florida State University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology funded by NIH and the National Institutes on Aging.

Goonetilleke and Czaja were both PhD students of Colin Drury, SUNY Distinguished Professor, Emeritus.
