Task force assembles best practices for rollout of Safe Patient Handling Act

Valerie Beecher, ergonomics specialist at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, UUP member and alumna of UB's industrial and systems engineering department, is part of the Zero Lift Task Force that is defining strategies for safe patient handling. She is part of a group of health care professionals who are busy preparing a list of concerns and suggested guidelines to present to a state Department of Health workgroup that must be named by Jan. 1, 2015, the deadline set in the new Safe Patient Handling Act.

Beecher (MS ISE 2002, BE 2000) is an ergonomics specialist at SUNY Upstate Medical Center.
