A segment of PBS History Detectives interviews UB chemical and biological engineering professor Ed Furlani to investigate how magnetic boots developed for astronauts in the 1960s might work.
Furlani, who has written a textbook about magnetic devices and materials, explains to the show’s host the principle of flux transfer as demonstrated by the boots when she tries them on.
