An article on MIT Technology Review about a Canadian company’s plan to monitor and track space junk with a constellation of 40 satellites quotes John Crassidis, Samuel P. Capen Chair and Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Crassidis said the plan has its advantages, but it could be costly and difficult to succeed. “Imagine driving a car for a million miles, and it has to work perfectly for 24 hours a day, and you can’t service it,” says Crassidis. “That’s what we do with satellites.”
