A podcast on Scientific American reports UB scientists led by Wenyao Xu, assistant professor of computer science and engineering, have constructed a computer security system that works by scanning the dimensions of the user’s heart and using the pattern as an identifier.

The team plan to commercialize the technology in the form of a miniaturized system installed onto the corners of computer keyboards.
