What Our Graduates Do

William K. Cline, BS 1990

Plant Engineer, Pierce and Stevens

Upon graduation went to work for FMC Chemical in Green River, Wyoming where we mined trona ore and refined the ore into soda ash. Produced Sodium Sesquicarbonate and Sodium Monohydrate. Worked as a Process Engineer and Production Foreman. As a Process Engineer I had the opportunity to develop production of high absorbtive soda ash in a fluid bed (which led to a patent application). After a few years, wanted to move back east and took a supervisor position with Frito-Lay Corporation. At Frito I obtained extensive training in team development and employee empowerment. Deciding it was time to return to my background I subsequently took a position with Buffalo Color Corporation as the Production Engineer in the Indigo Dye Manufacturing Department. At Buffalo Color (which is the old Allied Chemical) I had the opportunity to lead the department in our ISO 9001 certification. Recently, since August of 1998, I have been working for Pierce and Stevens Corporation as the Plant Engineer. Pierce and Stevens had been a division of Pratt & Lambert until sold to Sovereign Specialty Chemicals. The sale to Sovereign was part of the Sherwin-Williams buyout of Pratt & Lambert. At P & S we produce "Hybond" and "Barge" adhesives, as well as other cements and coatings.
