• SEAS for JEDI Faculty Award

    This award recognizes faculty and staff members who are outstanding advocates for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) in SEAS. A maximum of two awards will be made each year.
  • Best Teaching Faculty of the Year Award

    This award is presented to teaching faculty member(s) whose recent teaching performance, initiatives, publications and/or presentations demonstrate outstanding contributions to education within the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Eligible awardees must be full-time members of one of the School's departments/units and they must have an in-house title of Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, or Teaching Professor. The award recognizes outstanding performance during the past 5 years. A recipient may receive the award multiple times, but not more than once in 5 years. A maximum of two awards will be made each year.
  • Early Career Researcher of the Year Award

    This award is presented to early career faculty member(s) whose recent research at UB demonstrates relevance and importance to the overall mission of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Eligible awardees must be full-time members of one of the School's departments/units and untenured at the Assistant Professor level. Additionally, they must have been at UB for a 3-year period. A faculty member may receive the Early Career Researcher Award only once. A maximum of two awards will be made each year. Individuals who have received the UB Exceptional Scholar Award for Young Investigator are not eligible for this award. 
  • Early Career Teacher of the Year Award

    This award is presented to an early career faculty member(s) whose recent teaching performance, initiatives, publications and/or presentations demonstrate outstanding contributions to education within the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Eligible awardees must be full-time members of one of the School's departments/units and untenured at the Assistant Professor level. Additionally, they must have been at UB for a 3-year period. A faculty member may receive the Early Career Teacher Award only once. A maximum of two awards will be made each year. 
  • Senior Researcher of the Year Award

    This award is presented to senior faculty member(s) whose recent research demonstrates relevance and importance to the overall mission of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Eligible awardees must be full-time members of one of the School's departments/units and they must be at the Associate or Full Professor level, and must have been at UB for at least 5 years. The award recognizes outstanding performance during the past 5 years. A recipient may receive the award multiple times, but not more than once in 5 years. A maximum of two awards will be made each year. Individuals who have received the UB Exceptional Scholar Award for Sustained Achievement, or the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities are not eligible for this award. UB Distinguished Award recipients and those holding the SUNY Distinguished Professor rank are also not eligible for this award. 
  • Senior Teacher of the Year Award

    This award is presented to senior faculty member(s) whose recent teaching performance, initiatives, publications and/or presentations demonstrate outstanding contributions to education within the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Eligible awardees must be full-time members of one of the School's departments/units and they must be at the Associate or Full Professor level, and must have been at UB for at least 5 years. The award recognizes outstanding teaching performance during the past 5 years. A recipient may receive the award multiple times, but not more than once in 5 years. A maximum of two awards will be made each year. Individuals who have received the UB Teaching Innovation Award, or the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching are not eligible for this award. Those holding the SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor rank are also not eligible for this award. 
  • Excellence in Faculty Mentorship Award

    This award is presented to faculty for their effective mentoring commitments to other faculty. It seeks to celebrate both what the mentor does and how they do it and can be awarded to mentors of all kinds (officially assigned mentors, peer mentors, mentoring networks, and informal or unofficial mentoring). As such, the nomination can be for a single individual or a group of mentors working collectively to offer support. 
  • Undergraduate Mentor of the Year Award

    This award is presented to faculty for their effective mentoring commitments to undergraduate students. It recognizes and celebrates excellence and innovation in faculty mentoring and advising that goes above and beyond to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for undergraduate students in SEAS. The award highlights efforts that significantly contribute to student progress and success through activities that include but are not limited to:
