Applied Radiology reports that UB has received a four-year, $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop a new, portable breast-imaging system that has the potential to better identify breast cancer.

“The ultimate goal of this project is to address the unmet clinical need in breast cancer screening for women with high breast density. We believe it has the potential to help detect breast cancer earlier, thereby increasing survival rates,” says Jun Xia, associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
