2007: Proposal submitted to John R. Oishei Foundation for funding to establish new program in Biomedical Engineering
2008: Funding of $3 million awarded with UB committing to raise additional $1 million in 2009
April 2009: Dr. Alexander Cartwright is named Chair
July 2009: Proposal for new Bachelor of Science degree submitted to New York State Education Department (NYSED)
2010-2011
January 2010: NYSED approves Biomedical Engineering bachelor's degree
Spring 2010: First tenure-track faculty hired
June 2010: Dr. David Kofke and Dr. Albert H. Titus are named co-chairs
August 2010: First freshmen admitted into Biomedical Engineering
May 2011: BME advisory board hold first meeting
July 2011: Proposals for Master of Science and PhD program submitted to NYSED
2012-2013
January 2012: BME begins full occupation of Bonner Hall
April 2012: Graduate programs approved by NYSED
May 2012: First students graduate with BS in Biomedical Engineering
June 2012: Dr. Albert H. Titus is named Chair
August 2012: First graduate students matriculate into the department
Spring 2013: Biomedical Engineering student enrollment surpasses 200
