Our undergraduate programs integrate classroom learning with real-world applications, tackling the challenges of tomorrow from Day One.
Students also have the option to double major. A typical double major is Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering. Students who wish to double major must be accepted into each major and fulfill all the requirements in addition to satisfying all university requirements. This may be completed within the usual 120-credit minimum. Graduates would confer one baccalaureate degree with two majors (not two separate degrees).
Students are also able to take minors offered outside of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at UB. Typical minors include Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
Combned degrees reduce the typical path of a four-year bachelor's degree and a two-year master's degree by one year, saving time and money. This is possible because of a slight reduction in undergraduate courses created by overlapping electives and the substitution of select graduate-level courses. When completed, students' records will indicate two degrees individually awarded as part of a combined degree program.
Students interested in one of our combined degree programs must first be accepted into a School of Engineering and Applied Sciences major. If accepted into a combined degree program, students will follow a curriculum which includes undergraduate and graduate courses.
Students interested in one of our combined Engineering/MBA degrees must formally apply to the MBA program by submitting the online application. February 1 is the priority deadline for applicants applying for program scholarships, assistantships and fellowships. April 15 is the recommended deadline. June 1 is the final deadline.
Applicants must also schedule an appointment to meet with Michele Brown, SEAS senior academic advisor to complete the SEAS Advisor Approval & Planning Form Download pdf (submitted with MBA application). Admissions will be limited to students who can satisfy the entrance requirements for the MBA program.
If accepted into the combined degree program, students begin standard MBA classes in the fall semester of what is typically their senior year of engineering. Throughout that senior year and the next additional year students complete the MBA curriculum and their few remaining undergraduate requirements.
The School of Managment offers in-person and online information sessions where prospective students can learn more about Engineering/MBA combined degree programs and the admissions process.
You can also watch past information sessions through the School of Management’s Digital Library.
