Teaching Assistant Professor/Lecturer
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) the University at Buffalo seeks to fill a Teaching Assistant Professor/Lecturer 10 mo. position. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.
The primary purpose of this position is to improve the educational experience for undergraduate students enrolled in our Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Aerospace Engineering (AE) programs. Consequently, a successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:
Serve as Instructor for six or seven required undergraduate course-sections per academic year. This could include multiple sections of the same course. These courses are expected to be at the sophomore, junior, and senior levels and would include a number of courses in our design sequence, with special emphasis on Introduction to Mechanical Engineering Practice (MAE277), Machines and Mechanisms (MAE 311), Manufacturing Processes (MAE 364), Design Process and Methods (MAE451), Design Project (MAE 494), and Computer-Aided Design Applications (MAE477).
Design and implement plans for major departmental undergraduate activities, such as student advisement, industry internships, laboratory and instrumentation upgrades, student excellence initiatives, our ABET objectives, diversity enhancement and external educational grant support in collaboration with the MAE Undergraduate Studies Committee.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in an engineering, engineering education, or related discipline. Exceptional applicants with a M.S. degree will also be considered. Multiple Faculty Positions at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor Levels
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York invites applicants for multiple tenure-track faculty positions. These positions are at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty, and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.
The areas of interest include but are not limited to: modeling and analysis in advanced manufacturing; dynamics and controls of autonomous or robotic systems; or fluid/structure interactions in aerospace applications.

Applicants are expected to contribute to the core teaching and research missions in MAE. In particular, successful candidates will be expected to develop an independent, externally-funded, internationally-recognized research program, teach core MAE graduate- and undergraduate-level courses, develop new specialized MAE courses, supervise graduate research and contribute to departmental affairs.
The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Buffalo is the largest and most comprehensive of the SUNY engineering schools.
