Level of Study: MS '18

Hometown:  New Delhi, India

Why did you choose to study electrical engineering?

I did my Bachelor's in Electronics and Communication and was thrilled to learn about development of new technologies in various industries, be it robotics, transportation, construction, healthcare etc. Electrical Engineering is the blood of innovation and hence I chose to study Electrical Engineering for my Master's and I am very proud of my decision.

What do you like best about electrical engineering?

The part which interests me the most is Embedded Systems which involves designing a circuit, the core of electrical engineering. Then intelligently laying that design on a PCB, and then finally programming your own board to make it do anything. It's like building your own computer or robot which is very fascinating to me.

What makes UB Electrical Engineering special?

UB Electrical Engineering is the home of innovation. The professors are so open to new ideas and encourage the research prospective. Study not only restricted to the past or even current working technologies, but goes beyond and talks about the future. The EE department always takes initiative and keeps up with the state-of-the-art.

A favorite memory of your experiences/classes/projects?

Out of many great experiences, my favorite is the day when we exhibited our final IOT projects in front of professors, local business owners and many other professionals. I cannot be more thankful for such an opportunity and raising the bar of the EE department. Experiences where we present our work to the outside world are the greatest motivator of all.

Tell us about your career: I am currently working with North Park Innovations Group, Inc as an Electrical Engineer as well I am the project lead for a product called  PULSE. The company makes wireless tools for HVAC systems and I am responsible for the development of a new product line. It is an IOT motivated product which is a leave behind solution for HVAC/R systems and serves as a data logger as well as a data monitoring solution which when installed on a unit provides the highest level of analysis for technicians to understand the machine and help it operate with better efficiency.

Anything else you would like to mention?

UB EE dept has always been very supportive of me. The flexibility and enthusiasm to bring in more professors and introducing new courses is a very unique quality of UB EE department and the most encouraging factor for future students to opt EE at UB.
