Research

My research group (Aich Laboratory for Environmental Nanotechnology and Sustainability, #AichLENS) focuses on the sustainable design and use of advanced and multifunctional nanomaterials for water quality engineering i.e., for the treatment of groundwater, drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater for removing legacy and emerging pollutants.  Also, I am interested in the fundamental understanding of interactions and effects of the next generation hierarchical nanomaterials on environmental and public health. Topics of interest include:

  • Safer-by-Design multifunctional 2D/3D nanomaterials for water treatment
  • Additive manufacturing for water treatment
  • Nano-enabled high-performance membrane technology for water purification
  • Fate, transport, and toxicity of next-generation nanohybrids
  • Environmental and human health implications of nano-enabled products e.g., electronic wastes and dental materials

Current and Recent Projects

  •  Nano-enabled technologies for removal and degradation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs)
  • 3D printed nanomaterials and nano-devices for water treatment
  • Deep eutectic solvents for nano-enabled water treatment
  • Environmental and biological interactions of emerging nanohybrids and nanocomposites
