Nirupam Aich, assistant professor of environmental engineering, was quoted in Chemical and Engineering News in a story on emerging technologies.

Aich discusses new tech that shows promise for handling hard-to-destroy per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). “The major thing is to find how we can destroy the PFAS instead of just separating and removing it,” said Aich, who is helping develop nanoparticles that can degrade certain PFAS and welcomes other approaches. “It’s not solvable by one single technology. Multiple disciplines have to come together, and multiple treatment technologies have to be combined.”
