Bioplastic News mentioned that a UB project led by Paschalis Alexandridis received a $555,000 grant to improve recycling of plastic packaging. The effort addresses one of the biggest streams of plastic waste, and it could help ease the plastic pollution crisis that’s threatening drinking water, wildlife, food supplies and more.
Alexandridis is a UB Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Co-principal investigators from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences include John D. Atkinson, Scott and Coleen Stevens chair of engineering sustainability and associate professor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering; Amit Goyal, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Empire Innovation Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering; and Marina Tsianou, associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
