UB's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences adds programs in advanced manufacturing

Students of all levels interested in advanced manufacturing will find a wide variety of course options available through UB's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The expansion of the manufacturing enterprise and advances in manufacturing technologies have increased manufacturing-related career opportunities for students and professionals.  

Responding to these needs, the University at Buffalo’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences has developed two new programs for graduate and undergraduate students, as well as a set of online course modules focused on Industry 4.0.

The programs are available to all University at Buffalo (UB) students, and include core courses from the Departments of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, as well as other related departments. On-campus students will have access to UB’s state-of-the-art facilities and interaction with the Community of Excellence in Sustainable Manufacturing and Advanced Robotic Technologies (SMART).

Graduate Advanced Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing

The Advanced Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing covers topics including new methods in additive manufacturing, co-robotics, and digital manufacturing. It is a stand-alone credential for working professionals as well as for UB graduate students.

Undergraduate Minor in Manufacturing

The Minor in Manufacturing prepares undergraduate students to apply appropriate theories and methods to solve manufacturing problems and improve system designs.

Digital Manufacturing and Design MOOC

A 10-part, 101-level series of courses on digital manufacturing and design technologies and principles is available on the Coursera platform. The courses were developed in partnership with industry collaborators and the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII).
