These Buffalo clean-tech startups show promise

An article in Business First about Buffalo’s growing collection of startup companies that see an opportunity to build scalable tech while having a positive environmental impact includes Sunny Clean Water., a technology that uses sunlight to generate clean water.

Sunny Clean Water is headed by Qiaoqiang Gan, associate professor of electrical engineering, along with Haomin Song, a recent electrical engineering PhD recipient, and Zongmin Bei, a senior research support specialist in UB's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The article also mentions Dimien, the 2013 winner of UB’s Henry A. Panasci Jr. Technology Entrepreneurship Competition, which is working on technology that lets sunshine in a window when it’s cold and blocks the sun when it’s warm.
