An article on Environmental Technology reports UB researchers have developed a novel way to channel the power of the sun’s rays to purify water, and interviews Qiaoqiang Gan, associate professor of electrical engineering.

“Most groups working on solar evaporation technologies are trying to develop advanced materials, such as metallic plasmonic and carbon-based nanomaterials,” he said. “We focused on using extremely low-cost materials and were still able to realize record-breaking performance.”
